AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS

  • Deficits in social- emotional reciprocity .
  • Deficits in verbal and non verbal. communicative behaviours .
  • Deficits in making, understanding and developing relationship amongst peers and other known.
  • Repetitive motor / speech movements .
  • Poor eye contact .
  • Less social interaction .
  • Problem in making new routines .

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS
ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVE SYNDROME (ADHD)

  • Not doing homework regularly.
  • Do not sit on a designated seat for a long time .
  • Restless and Impulsive .
  • Interrupting others frequently and impatient in doing tasks.
  • Keeps on talking, blurting speech .
  • Quarrels often with others.
  • Clumsy and having a short attention span .

LEARNING DISABILITY
DYSLEXIA, DYSGRAPHIA , DYSCALCULIA

  • Lacks time management in reading and writing answers.
  • Problem in following laid schedules and time schedules.
  • Skips words and phrases while reading .
  • Reads lines out of sequence or mix sequences of lines .
  • Reversals in numbers ( 6 as 9) (31 as 13). Reversals in words (p as q ), (b as d) etc .
  • Difficulty in copying from the board.
  • Poor handwriting .
  • Difficulty in understanding concepts .
  • Problem in doing arithmetics.

INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY

  • Difficulty/Deficit in Intellectual functions like-
    —Reasoning
    —problem solving
    —planning and execution
    —Academic learning .
    —Problem in experiential learning .
  • Deficits in adaptive functions and life skills like –
    — COMMUNICATION.
    —SOCIAL SKILLS
    —PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE
    —SCHOOL AND WORK RELATED FUNCTIONING

SLOW LEARNER

  • Persistent difficulty in reading , writing and arithmetics in formal school .
  • Effortful reading and writing on regular basis .
  • Difficulties are more prominent during early years of development .
  • Developmental , Neurological, Sensory and motor disorders interferes with academic achievement , occupational performances and activities of daily living (ADL ).

DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY

  • Delay in two or more developmental domains like gross motor , fine motor , speech ,
    cognition , personal independence skills , activities of daily living (ADL) or others in children less than 5 years of age is termed as GLOBAL DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY ( GDD).
